The Masonic Society of Mars-Sur-Allier was established in August 1918 at Mars Hospital Center, U.S. Army Base Hospital No. 48, a significant WWI medical facility located in Mars-sur-Allier, Nièvre, France, serving the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF). Established in 1918, it functioned as a massive, "Type A" hospital complex (A.P.O. 780) designed to handle large numbers of sick and wounded soldiers.
The Society held weekly meetings throughout the existence of the camp and had 39 members from the hospital.
